Be Still, Little Tree, Be Still
MARINA GONZALEZ

We are so grateful to have had Author Shawn Elliot Russell here at Ybarra Elementary. Our students were able to hear about the author's life story and his personal journey of overcoming anxiety. Once a "little tree" himself, the Author illustrated the ability to overcome any fear by becoming "still" and remaining calm during life's "storms". Now able to manage his anxiety, Shawn Elliot Russell uses his experiences to teach students that they too can overcome their fears or worries. By sharing his book Be Still, Little Tree, Be Still, he motivated all of Ybarra's little trees to be brave whenever they are afraid and reminded them that they are awesome and can do anything.

Thank you, Mr. Russell, for your words of encouragement!
